Among Yakushima’s cedar trees, those that are over 1000 years old are called “Yakusugi”.
The wood grain is clear and the bamboo grain pattern of the upper heather appears, giving it a special beauty, and it is characterized by not distorting even with complicated wood grains. The wood is hard and contains about 6 times more resin than normal wood, so it has antiseptic, antibacterial, and insect repellent effects, and it retains a unique scent even after processing. Currently, logging is prohibited, so only wood from before the ban and fallen trees (thinned wood) are available, making it an extremely rare and high-quality wood.

As a symbol of eternal youth and longevity, it is prized as a valuable precious wood that brings good luck and is said to “prevent misfortune.”

A natural cedar that grows wild in the mountains of Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture, at an altitude of over 500m.

The heartwood is reddish brown.

<Cartridge installation method>
Remove the barrel of the fountain pen, point the pen tip upward, and insert the cartridge straight into the pen without turning it.
Once installed, wait until the ink reaches the tip and try writing.
<Converter suction method>
Remove the barrel, insert the converter straight into the neck, turn the knob to the left, lower the internal piston, and dip the pen tip into the ink up to the neck. Aspirate while rotating to the right. When suction is finished, wipe the pen tip clean before use.
